A new "Friends of Northwest Park" group is forming with the intent of moving forward on Phase II of the Master Plan created back in 2012. At that time, one of the ideas floated was for a formal dog park, but it never went anywhere. Creating a dog park is not a simple endeavor.... The funding is probably not too hard to get, but it would require an organization to maintain and manage the facility. Is there interest in this? Would we like a fenced park (ala Paw Point) here in MW? Are people interested in becoming involved with "Friends of Northwest Park" to advocate for the doggos? What do you (we) think......

Mac, if there is something I can do to help, let me know. I would love to have a real dog park within walking distance of my house. The only concern I have is that there might not be a critical mass of users since Paw Point is so popular... and nearby.
Of course, it is also possible that "if you build it, they will come". There may be plenty of people willing to use a dog park at Northwest Park if it is more convenient than Lake Roland.
Thanks - that seems like a good place for a dog park, especially because of its proximity to the jones falls trail. I have thought the golf driving range there also might be a good place. I'm not good at organization and have very little patience for approvals, beaurocratic processes, (or apparently spelling). But I would follow someone and support them.
Northwest Park used to be known as the University of Baltimore Athletic Fields. It is at the corner of West Rogers and Wexford. Basically, it forms a big "L" around the Springwell retirement community.
Where's Northwest Park? I like the idea of a fenced, leashes-off dog park.
I’m interested. I understand the membership idea, but Think a membership fee would be a delicate Issue considering so many have been using the park As a dog park for free for a long time...
