What is your favorite hot weather walk? I'm looking for shady parks, places with water, etc. I am planning to try Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis with its dog beach soon. Other ideas closer buy?
Other than that, my hot weather strategies are bowls of ice cubes and homemade Frosty Paws (empty yogurt cups filled with whole, plain yogurt and flavored with mashed banana and/or peanut butter).
I have tried to interest Ruby in the sprinkler but no dice.
Ruth, she just discovered she likes creeks, happily! We went to Oregon Ridge this week and she had to cross some shallow streams and discovered she liked it. And the splashing is definitely good for cooling off. Will have to try the Falls trail - I've been avoiding it as it seems more narrow and crowded but off hours would be fine I'm sure.
Does she like creek walking? Perhaps the water that runs by the Falls Trail (off of Falls Rd, as you near Old Court/Ruxton intersection)?
Oh, I wish Ruby liked the hose! She doesn't seem to grasp that water makes you cool. But I have a report from Quiet Waters Dog Beach in Annapolis. We went today and it was fantastic. The park itself is large wtih lots of trails, pavillions, and areas of kayaking etc. And then there is a whole section overlooking the bay where you can sit and look at the lovely view, have a picnic, etc. or go down closer to the water to a small protected cove that is the dog beach. The sand is soft and the water in the cove goes up to about waist high so I could wade around and get splashed by all the very happy doggies. Ruby had fun chasing the other dogs on the beach but when they would run in the water, she held back. I think after another visit or two she will be spashing with the rest of them. It was a lot of fun - highly recommend!
Bella likes to chase the hose spray.
